What Is Poetry
Poetry is the balance between each night and day
An expression of our soul's search for truth along the way
Poetry is an oasis where exhausted we are led
A meal to fill our emptiness and through which we are amply fed
Poetry is a solitary sunbeam on which the dust of despair tries to cling
Valiantly awaiting the noon day sun and the power that it will bring
Poetry is an immeasurable amount that we attempt to diversify
But no matter what the content is it never tells a lie
Poetry is a newly discovered Renoir which has been hidden far to long
A pictorial excellence to gaze with awe upon
Poetry is an embryonic story that awaits to be told
A masterpiece in the making each chapter to unfold
Poetry is a camera it's aperture focuses to complete an imprint of the moment
That develops with each heartbeat
Poetry is an experience that we equally share with time
To reassemble like a jigsaw, the deeds of yours, there's and mine
Poetry I hesitate to label you at all
Just to say I'll be here each time you choose to call.
