What Is Poetry

you know, poetry isn't just about flowery words that wilt like how blue petals do it isn't just about the metaphors that bring so much deepness like how poets are it isn't just about the imageries that unblur the scenes like how vivid photographs out there it isn't just about every symbolism that beautifies lines in between like how cosmetics used to it isn't just about the rhymes that are well-measured like how the book's edges and pages are you know, poetry is how you smile not with your soft-pinkish, sometimes chapped lips, but with your sparkling eyes bringing me to a magical paradise poetry is how you talk not with your sweet voice or sudden loud reactions but with your silence screaming at me with heartbeats like drums thumping inside saying I love yous through those stares poetry is how you hold me not with your fingers or hands that smell like vanilla, or arms that carry flowers no— not with how you hold a cup of coffee but instead, with how your love to me is in good and bad times in any mood or emotion even in days without a sunset or nights without the moon and stars are all absent poetry is how you are to me in times of needing rest searching for calm waves comforted by your I-miss-yous sweetly filling my ears, my exhausted mind, my longing heart you know, poetry is how we make love under one silent night with a little bit of light creating shadows of our bodies poetry is how we look into each other's existence making invisible sparks sending electricity between us or connecting bridge amidst us poetry is how we kiss savoring the softness, and the wet sweetness, and the playing tongues, and the naughty tooth making us hungry more craving for more in every second and minute until our breaths surrender yes— it really feels poetic all the damn time you know, poetry is you poetry is the love between us poetry is all about us poetry is— you and me.

How envious I am! I wish I had penned such beauty! Your first 14 lines should be stamped on foreheads of all poets. They drown in all you say, save for a few. You are a glorious poetess. I sing your song. Panagiota Xi
