Charles Reese Poet Sonnet

What Is Beauty

This style is a French style known as a Kyrielle Sonnet it has 2 rhyme patterns to choose from as you can see it is very different from the English and Italian Sonnet styles, I hope you like it

How do we know what beauty is
What in each finds creativity
Is it turned on with how we live
It's more than just what we can see

To me it comes from one's spirit
To make us what we should then be 
Our true light comes when we feel it
It's more than just what we can see

A different light we each now hold
That when expressed will set us free
It shines more brightly when we're bold   
It's more than just what we can see

How do we know what beauty is
It's more than just what we can see

Charles Reese May 7, 2026 at 7:36 PM This French style is much less well known then the English and Italian sonnet I did a Kyrielle once but not a Kryielle Sonnet it was easier than I thought I simply wrote the first verse then the repeating lines and filled in the rest I'm very glad you liked it

I have written a few with that sonnet couplet at the end and lots of regular kyrielles but have you tried quatern? That's where the repeating line is in a different position in each verse. I think I like that even more than writing kyrielle. French forms are pretty cool!
