What If I Was the One
Soft and beautiful
The tender image of your smile
Reflects the outcome of a winter’s day
What if it was me?
What if I was the one?
The pain lives right there
You hardly fought for love
It is so unfair
I cared and
I prepared my heart to belong to you forever!
The oppression of time could not stop my love
In judgment, I saw the joy
Knowing the truth of certainty!
You were not a toy
But an element of destiny!
What if it was me?
What if I was the one?
The pain lives right there
You hardly cared
It is so unfair
I cared and
I prepared my heart to belong to you forever!
Human hearts understand the pain of love
Often the furnace of the aftermath
Reflects a beautiful pain!
My heart mirrored an intense feeling of affection
The pure currency of a poetic word nurtured my soul!
What if it was me?
What if you did not run away?
