What I wish you knew

I hope you can understand
The storm behind that smile.
The ocean in my eyes
Hides a silent truth and a thousand lies.

It’s breaking me apart day by day,
How do I say?
Piece by piece or little by little
It leaves my heart fragile, my soul brittle.

How do I tell you?
I don’t need you to change
I just want you to understand me
A little, for once, let me be.

Of course, I can’t hate you
As I have loved you
But I lose a piece of me too.
Every time I feel small,
I stop believing in me at all.

Between our hearts, the waters lie
Too deep to swim, too far to try
Each attempt fades like whispers in the hall
Lost in the silence that swallows all.

I just simply want you to see
The one you never knew -- the real me.
Not strong, not perfect, not anymore,
Just the child, you loved before.

This...I feel this, It really evokes the stubborn, hopeful wish that the certain person will get you, even though it seems not...thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
