What I Love About You
What I love about you is you,
you know it and it’s true.
not like we don’t drive each other nuts at times,
but there’s only one of you and me,
and only you can make me feel the way that you do.
What I love about you is you,
surprising as it is, that’s how we’ve lasted this long.
Ever thought of what you and I put together could produce?
The sun gives light to the moon,
but what I give you is love.
What I love about you is you,
everything old was new, yet some things remain the same.
Life is rented but love is promised,
I never go back on my vows,
either I pay in full or I do not give out my word.
What I love about you is you,
you get it so I don’t always need to explain myself.
I’ve tried to tell them but they won’t listen,
we can’t break up,
because we give time to figure it out
instead of picking up a fight.
What I love about you is you,
you love me that’s why I love you.
I wonder why they’d presume we’d ever trade that
for anything or anyone else.
We don’t give up on each other because that’s not who we are,
and that’s what I love about us.
What I love about you is you,
surely you noticed all the while.
Haven’t they said this wouldn’t work?
Even then still you stood by me, believing in my discretions.
You make everything not supposed to be there go away just by being there,
and when we’re apart I just can’t wait for us to reunite.
What I love about you is you,
it’s that wonderful feeling when I’m with you.
It makes me feel like stopping time so things stay this way until eternity.
Even at that yesterday is blind to today, I’ll walk you through until tomorrow.
What I love about you is you,
don’t you worry about me I’ll be back,
you wouldn’t even notice how long I was gone when I return.
The things we have to do for love what can measure,
who can better describe why I love you,
which words could tell.
What I love about you is you,
people get jealous of talks like this.
I could keep going on about it without finding an ending.
What I love about you is you love me like I do,
that’s why I love you…
