What I Gave
What I gave…
My honesty, my loyalty
My love, my heart
My word and my time
My trust when apart.
What I gave...
My full attention, my understanding
My friendship, my care
My support and compassion
When no one else was there.
What I gave…
Everything he desired
I always did my best
To make sure he was comfortable
And never made him stressed.
I gave it my all,
more that 100 percent
to the one whose life,
I thought I made content
When I gave I expected nothing back
But his loyalty and love in return
I expect no extravagance
But a flame that will eternally burn.
When you find that special someone
Your world changes around
You give him wholeheartedly
As you believe a soul mate you have found
But in the end what I got
Was the complete opposite of what I gave.
I was left out in the cold alone,
A dreadful storm I had to brave.
What I got...
Insincerity and distrust,
Betrayal and deceit
Bitterness, empty promises,
And a heartless scheming cheat
What I got..
A shattered heart, sleepless nights
and a river of endless tears.
Unsaid words which hurt the most,
And a soul left broken into pieces...
