What I Gave

What I gave
Was a hand of friendship
When all seemed lost
A small ray of hope
When on a rubbish tip was tossed
A way out of a problem
When not a penny to his name
A chance, a hope of a tomorrow
When thoughts of ending it came

What did I get in return
More than the money that I gave
Was a friend, not a scrounger
Who from this small deed
A new life and family has obtained
Was just money to me
To him was a moment
when he knew someone cared

(I believe in the saying. If he doesn't come he sends)
