What Have I Been Brought To

What is it about a person That you can’t get enough of What is it about that someone That makes you change your lifestyle for the better Is this what I’ve been missing out on What is it about a person That no matter how gloomy your days seem The world no longer matters, only them What is it That allows forgiveness to become the scar That wounds who you are What is it about the person you always miss Is that what has brought me to this You know what’s meant to be But you’d rather gamble fate and see what really is Why is it that we are at our best When we are in our weakest hours Why do we run from the things we enjoy Why am I so afraid to say, “It’s You” Sometimes we get caught in the moment And no longer realize who we are Coincidentally we are human And moments are filled with lust, beauty and sometimes something more When I see you, I want to run the other way I assume you feel the same Is it the rain that you find comfort in Or do you find it lovely The way it surrounds you snug and closely I’m not hurting I’m just getting use to not having you If all things come down to this And this is goodnight Then I am stranded by our last kiss

Excellent writing here, Jerry! Lots of "why" and then again, "why not" ?? Supposedly, experience is our best teacher ... smile ... folks also say life is like a smorgesboard and some people are starving ... thanks for being here!!

Jerry, I believe it is love the creates all of the feelings and generates all of the questions you ask in this poem. Love means allowing ourselves to become vulnerable again, to open our hearts to things we might not consider but for the sake of finding and keeping love in our lives. Very provocative poem, Jerry. Great write! Love, Carolyn
