What Happened Upon Inspection

So much damage there to find, but you needed to unload the property and the foundation cracks needed a quick cover up before the next buyer showed. So you planted, life inviting and green to hide the cracks outside and you bought a blanketing carpet to cover them within. For a few moments, it all seemed so cozy -- inviting, and almost beautiful even. Unfortunately, the inspector that accompanied the potential buyer was a pro and pointed out every fault, each crack in the wall and ceiling, to the potential buyer. The ground shifts below your feet, and soon you won't have any level surface upon which to stand. Weakness upon weakness, the case against purchase made. The potential buyer, who thought he had been in love with the place, finally let the inspector's counsel sink in -- The cost is too dear. Walk away while you can. He listened, turned, and walked out. While you hung your head and held on without choice. Meanwhile, the property continued to lose value and rot, beloved by no one. An empty abandoned lot -- Still, it stands.

Sad that a home could become a place unlivable. Well at least the land still stands. Keep writing. Sara
