What Ever Happened To Love

What Ever Happened To Love

What ever happened to love in the World
When we were born we learnt through life
to be kind and gentle and loving through our
parents and family, yet as we grow older
whatever we have learnt seems to disappear

soon to be replaced by greed, hatred and lack of
respect, we sit in front of the television watching
violent scenes on the news and movies and
as we are at an impressionable age we
tend to absorb all of this in our minds and then

go out to commit violent crimes. In the business
world companies are making large profits as they
go out of their way to make life unbareable for
everyone by being greedy, creating large mark ups
on their products that are sold, making it costly

for you to buy them. When the banks loan money
for you to purchase your house, and you miss a
monthly payment they steal the house back
from you. There is no love there, but just
company greed, the same as the governments

all around the World, favouring the rich over the
poor and never considering the people who voted
them into office. The wars created by people who
have turned violent with their anti-social behaviour
who vent their hatred and anger by fighting.

There is absolutely no love of our fellow man.
Even relationships and marriages have gone
horribly wrong with boys and girls losing their
common decency and respect, wanting sex for
fun with their partners just for entertainment,

this is all wrong and has no part in our civilised
society, love as we know it has disappeared and we
have nothing left but hatred, greed and unhappiness.
We need to go back to a time when people were

loving and kind to each other, receiving love and
affection in return, creating the perfect society.
This change needs to come soon before it is all too
late to save this wonderful World we live in.

Even if a time of love never existed, the ideal was laid out very well in your poem. I do think that society would profit from some true charity, but unfortunately almost everything these days is influenced by economics. Great work.

Thank you Wayland, I often base my poems on topical issues and many based on historical events, I cover so many genres as to cater for all tastes, some people love them and others criticise me for my poems, the main thing a poem should be entertaining and how it is achieved is not that important, all the best. Hy, John. Everything you write is correct except when you speack of going back to a time where people were loving and kind to each other. Unfortunately this never happened in the human story and man has not changed much in thousands of years. Except that a minority has always conditioned the others to commit violence. It is time to control this evil minority!

Hi Mario, thank you for following my poems, a lot of my poems are influenced by society and current events, it is virtually my spin on these events, others come from my imagination. I probably did a first here, by creating the first serial-poem, it is my tribute to the comics and also the cinema serials of the 1930s-1950s, man will nevr learn I feel till it is too late.
