What Dogs Know
we're invisible in the dark together
tracking
black faced dog silently
snuffing his way
my hand can touch his back
but
I hold the leash loosely
these spring nights we waited for
through the icy winter walks
sliding around
and now we can slip into the woods
at the school field and watch for
whats coming
or sit by the playground
watching
taking our time
he shows me what dogs know
