What Do You Make of It

	       A phone that never rings
                  A TV droning on endlessly
               The refrigerator humming on empty
                  Stale coffee grounds

A lazy drop falls from the sink faucet
A faint odor from the shower
                Bedroom curtains and windows open
Cigarette holes burnt into a towel

                Clothes from a bureau
                   scattered across an unmade bed
Toothpaste open on the bathroom sink
right next to an unfinished drink

As Dave Barry used to say, "You just can't make that stuff up! Thanks for sharing, Bj.

Ew, reminds me of a hotel we once had to stay in as my husband was too tired to drive another mile. Yuck, There were cigarette burns through the top bedspread, into the blanket and sheet, so sickening, How ironic to think they were so meticulous to be sure after those holes were made to wash those linens and line them up so perfectly for the next guest?! It was not a pleasant experience!

No, it was off the interstate in San Bernadino, lol, and just thought how ironic the name of the city coupled with the bedspread, blanket and sheets of that hovel! Burn a dino, yuck, hope the health department got on to them. I pulled every bit of bedding off that bed, scrubbed the place with their old towels and washcloths the best I could, and those white threadbare towels were then dark with dirt, and threw them onto the bedding I had dumped in the bathtub. Ironically, when we were getting ready to leave that dump, my husband had opened the door of the Uhaul trailer we'd rented to bring all the wonderful treasure back home in, our preserves and jellies we had made with family members in Oregon. He thought it a good idea to put a 32 oz cup of soda-pop balanced on the top pf the trailer door! I closed it and got drenched in pop, and had to go to the office for new towels, empty the tub, and wash the Pepsi from my hair. Gosh, that was aweful.

Ha, ha. I think I've stayed at that same hotel. Was it just outside Buffalo, NY? A Best Western?
