What Do You Fear

What do you fear?
You asked me.

I guess I could say heights, or death, or maybe spiders.

After all, I do fear those things.
But it’s not the same.

There are two different types of fears.
One fear makes you feel uneasy,
A little sick to the stomach
And makes you want to run away,

But the other fear is different.
It’s that fear,
That makes you clutch your pillow until your knuckles turn white,
It makes you choke your throat until you can’t breathe,
Just so that you don’t scream.
It makes you want to rip away your own skin,
It makes you want to jump from a building into a pit of deadly spiders,
Just so that you don’t have to face that fear.

What do you fear?
You asked me.

Never finding love.
I answered.
