What Decade Is It

It seems we have traveled a very long way, just to end up where we started from. Still taking most from all, and giving it all to some. The incompetent march and all cry foul, and say that soon their time will come. The farmers all hate the factories, for putting their women on the job. The rich white men hated black men, they said they were nothing but a mob. The Catholics hated everyone else, while the rule makers just polished their knob. The new women said they knew what was best, that their mothers had it all wrong. The politicians praised how all the people, worked together to make America strong. It was the poor that wrote the words, but it was the rich who sang the song. So, I ask if any one of us, will ever know just what to do. In a country where the left says they’re right, but the right says that they are too. And up in the big house around the corner, lies are touted as the gospel truth. History often repeats itself, that's what the experts all say. The way it was a hundred years ago, is the way that it still is today. And we still have not learned our lesson, that the answer is to kneel and pray.

wow, Jerry, your poem said it all. The historical examples perfectly suited your title telling us that, sadly, nothing has changed at all except for the players on the chess board. Tragically, lessons have not been learned. Well done, Jerry! Have a great evening, Sara

The sad thing is, if history repeats itself, we are doomed to never learn our lessons.

Perfect answer to the cycle of 'much ado about nothing' that ever repeats itself. Bullseye, Jerry. ~ gw

Thanks, Gershon. The good news is, that which cycles up must cycle down. The question is, have we yet reached the peak of our insanity?

I understand you sentiments.. imperialists still trying to gain power... hypocrites still leading the world.. and it seems to be getting worse.. lets not get started on media.

Even the media is on repeat, except we use a different form of delivery. They used to call it yellow journalism, now we call it sensationalism.

Wise words from a wise man. Your poem touches my heart, Jerry. It saddens me to know your words are true. We will continue to get the same results as long as we keep doing the same misguided things. To do the same things over and over and expect things to be different is a description of insanity. Has our world on a whole gone insane? Another FAV for another fine poem, my friend. Bill

All we can do is try not to add to the insanity. Thanks for the fav and friendship, Bill. Have a beautiful day, my friend.
