What Are You Looking For

What are you looking for?

In the peace and quiet of a sanctuary
the question rings out loud and over again.

We stand, we sit, we kneel, we pray
and ask that very question every Sunday
silently within our minds and hearts and soul.

As a youth the question was for me
  what's it all about
  what's it all for?

Now that years, decades have passed
the question gets lost in the daily doing
you know, doing this or that, too busy to ask the question.

But here in the church, cathedral, sanctuary
perched upon my knees and praying quietly
  beneath my unseen God, my life, my hope;

I hear the question loud and deafening
  breaking the silence once again,
  What are you looking for?

My answer humbly
 God
You know it's you.
