What Am I

I am sort of prickly
As a woman they say
I eat slugs for my breakfast
In your garden I'll stay
Leave me some cat food 
That's yummy for me
Keep me cool all winter
Your long friend I will be.
I will curl in a ball and 
Go fast asleep
Will wake up in springtime
After a long forty winks


What am I.......
