We'Ve Been Alone Too Long

We've Been Alone Too Long Different roads we’ve traveled down To reach our destiny. Many lonesome highways Brought you here to me. I see you now as in the dreams I had those nights alone When the warmth of many firesides Chased the chill from tired bones. We wandered far down unknown roads Not knowing when or where We’d find a special someone With dreams they wished to share. Just lonely pilgrims lost in time With longing in their hearts Searching for an ending Of a dream – before it starts. Lyric verses fill my mind And soon become a song. Come, let me sing my song to you – We’ve been alone too long.

I read this twice John, first to take the poem in as a whole and then paying attention to the rhythm and meter...I could hear this as a song while I was reading it...Congratulations! - Tim

Thanks for really reading this, my friend. Your perception is appreciated and I agree ... with a little work and a chorus or bridge, based on the hook line. it could by a good song.... Thanks again.... Jake

I just thought this was charming and it had a lovely lyrical quality to it...I must confess it's not the usual sort of poetry I go for and initially I left it off the winners' list, but something about it called me back and I just had to put it through - congrats! :)

Thank you for not holding my 'Hallmark" Halo against me. I just naturally want to write in Rhyme and I guess it comes too easy for me.... I appreciate your poetry so much and I am trying to create in other forms. I'm posting one tonight that was inspired by your "Haiku Fanatics" post some time ago... Hope you like it.... Jake

This is beautiful John. It reminds me of a song that went like this - the coffee is too weak and the sream is too strong and i got an idea - I've been single too long. thanks for sharing... Lucilla
