We'Ve All Been

We've all been hurt
contained ~ for reasons, not our own
like some source of infamy
the world could not condone!

And then our beliefs diminished
and then we were unknown ~
but mostly to ourselves
our daily prone!

We've all been swindled
took mostly all the heat,
the big guy seemed to take the most
we handled the defeat!

We've all been sore & severed
apart from those we loved
the game of fitting ~ give & take
conserved not our betrothed!

We've all been disappointed
a lie to seal a boast,
the pride we served annointed
was merely its own host!

With comforts coinciding
we've reconciled the gross,
forgetting what we're hiding
is every day's remorse!

We've all been justifying
the worst, the least, the lost ~
until our mind's relying
seems bargained to last cost!

We've all been rung with chiding,
we're getting old and gray,
our closets filled ~ abiding
the skeleton's relay!

Once more my trust is riding
upon the outcome's play,
instead of just confiding
the Master as I pray!

It's still the daily guiding
instead of swing and sway
and patience, mercy's striding
exhuberance ~ outweighs!
