A bird flies high A baby cries A mother sighs A soldier dies A river runs Up comes the sun At the point of a gun His life is done Children play Worshipers pray Palm trees sway A bullet did slay Lovers linger in bed Tender words are said His wound fairly bled 'Till he was stone-cold dead We say that we care Solemnly offer a prayer Were we honest We wouldn't dare
