Were It Not For Words
I may simply be adrift
save for words to stir my heart
feelings lost to bitter winds
were it not for words
How to capture fireflies
just a pen is all at hand
somehow words can find a way
poetry sustains
Just to get to know oneself
stunning as the page unfolds
filling depths and empty eyes
as my world takes form
I am saved by lines of wit
lines of passion, lines of tears
I am not sure where I’d be
were it not for words
