We'Re All Over-Heat-Ed

Sing this to the tune of
"We Shall Overcome:"

We're all over-heat-ed
We're all over-heat-ed
We're all over-heat-ed
   Today - ay - ay

Oh, oh, take a step back
Cut America some slack
'Cos we're all over-heat-ed
   Today

We're so over-sensitive
We're so over-sensitive
We're so over-sensitive
Right now - ow - ow

C'mon and take a deep breath
We're way out of our depth
'Cos we're so over-sensitive
   Right now

We've got to right our ship
We've got to right our ship
We've got to right our ship
   OK - ay - ay

Because if we dare to blink
Lady Liberty may well sink
And drown in Hudson River
   Bay - ay - ay

Can we all unite
Can we all unite
Can we all unite
   Today - ay - ay

Oh, oh, deep in my heart
I'd like to believe
that we can all unite
   Today

I'm afraid I don't really know the tune, but I can image it - while there is still reform to be done, I do think there is much to unite us - also really like the lines about Lady Liberty sinking in the Hudson Bay.

Oh, Michelle! You don't know "We Shall Overcome?!" Wow. Just google the song; I'll be you've heard it before. It's right up there with "This Land is Your Land" and "American Pie" as one of the American "Songs of the Twentieth Century!" :) gw

I am so ready to all "unite" I do not feel we have been this divided since The Civil War

I think that you may be right here. We are a house divided at this point. Those who claim that these protests are uniting us aren't talking to all those people who are not protesting. We are basically horrified by the specious reasoning and profanity, and the tactics, of the protestors. And we support our local police, even those on the force who aren't perfect. Those protestors have a big surprise waiting for them at the end of the day... Backlash will come. :) gw
