Well Worn Words

Voices are low, and the pages unfold Dusty worn jackets, on paper-back shores Classics of old, or a best-seller's gold Renaissance store, with a bent spinal core Latitude shelves, heavy with multitudes Autographed copies, fiction and lore Chapters reread, opened with gratitude Mouldy with knowledge, slumbering fiction Sung once again, birthing new attitudes Language and diction, viewed with conviction I find new adventure, swimming through waves Love's old persuation, claims my addiction A place to spend time and stroll down a maze find some conclusion, and leave in a daze

oh I do so love book stores. Probably I prefer the modern ones to the older ones that this beautiful poem describes, but awesome books reside in both kind. Craig should love this one.

Carrie, your work seems always fully researched and detail conscious. This is a beautiful tribute to something that is being attacked by electronic bytes and pieces that will never capture the essence of aged words of pleasant wisdom... Sweetheart, You can be doubly proud of this one... Love ya..... Jake

I love books as well. The problem is that there are so many good ones and not enough time to read as you mentioned with the daze. Exceptional poem here; I can imagine shelves filled with well worn words, antique caches of wisdom, knowledge from the multitudes who have gone before. Hmph, I'll have to read a book now! "The Innocents Abroad", I think.

There's nothing like the smell of old pages of 'well worn words' wafting along the book shelves. A nice pen.
