“It's gettin' hard to please 'em You start to feel the rub You know it isn't easy Well, welcome to the club Come on and join us in the club.” – Joe Walsh
The marquee glares with brilliant light. A talent takes stage to delight. Too many hours, too long the show Painful pressure in too hot glow. How much more can they surely take before they crumble and then break? They are ever pressured for more and always seem stressed to the core. What more is left after they give memories for fans to relive? Choking on their artistic fame, each breath becomes a burning flame. Fraught with fear of losing the edge. closer and closer they get to the ledge, Woefully, they bend, twist, and crack; pushed too far to ever come back. Might 27 be given to those depressively driven? Another club’s members alive; the ones who struggle, yet survive.

Oh my gosh Linda, so incredibly empathetic and well written. Many greats come to my mind, notably Elvis. Tragically, they may never know that for many of us it's ok, we've been gifted with enough joy, we will revelry in the works we have been gifted by them in the past. Remembering the wise words from the Eagle's song "...Take it easy, take it easy. Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy" BTW, thank you for your comments on my poems yesterday, they lifted me up so much <3

They put up with stresses and pressures that most of us can't even imagine. Why some survive and some don't is a mystery. Nice thoughtful piece, Linda. Enjoy your weekend ~ John

Thank you Jon. I'm always pleased by your visits and thoughtful comments. Yes, a mystery. What my dad would have called grit, and my grandma a strong constitution. Linda

So talented, yet, so fragile---your poem is tribute to the youthful souls gone so soon. Wonderfully emotive write, Linda.

I think that suicides especially at such early age is a lack of humility. They often think they reached the sky to find a void.

Perhaps Victor, they find that void comforting? Thank you for visiting me today and for the thoughtful comments! Linda

Very good, Linda! Do some sell their soul? They believe they can escape, perhaps?

Perhaps. Makes one wonder how some avoid the trap and others fall so easily. Thanks for visiting and commenting Kim. :) Linda
