Welcome Home

The prodigal son
Has come back to me
With his promise of change
And that he loves me

Life on the streets
Is not where he should be
He's better than that
This I can see

His father said stop
Don't waste your time
How can I not?
For this child of mine

He's done this before
Yes, I do know
But still he's my son
I can't let him go

There may be regrets
For this decision I've made
But I still have to try
And provide him with aid

I must live with myself
And the decisions I make
The thought of him lost
Makes my heart ache

So I dive in again
And now he's back home
It brings me such peace
That he's not alone

Alone in this world
You don't want to be
People are cruel
This I do see
