Welcome 2017

Ah, yes, we'll call you twenty seventeen.
You have been a long time coming it seems.
Things happened in sixteen we'd never seen -
It never lived up to our hopes and dreams.

But that has all past and now here we are
With open minds and a hope for romance.
Enough with politics that went too far -
Give me a reason to sing and to dance.

You have twelve months to produce me a queen.
It's not much to ask, but it's all I need.
She'll have blue eyes and golden hair with sheen -
Twenty seventeen I wish you Godspeed.

A new year with promise is all I ask.
I have no doubt that you're up to the task.

Thanks so much, Jan. I'm so old I wouldn't know what to do with her, so I write from memory!
