Wedding Cakes and Freedom

Melissa and Aaron created wedding cakes
When asked to make one for gays, they declined
The state of Oregon didn't give them any breaks
To religious conscience, the state was blind.

Over a hundred thousand was confiscated to start
They were told to make such cakes in future
Given a gag order, not to say what's in their heart
Then came an online surge of hate

Their life and their kid's lives got threats
Their truck was vandalized, they had to move
Melissa and Aaron may have had regrets
But went to the Supreme court their case to prove.

The U.S. Supreme court said that the state
can't force them to violate their belief
In free lands you shouldn't crush debate
With anonymous messages like a thief.

The Klein's bible condemned how some behave
The Kleins didn't hurt anyone, they left folks alone
To assert their beliefs, they shouldn't have to be brave
And waste years defending against a mob with stones.
