We Were Young
You handed me a towel
I dried the dishes
we laughed
we talked
there were no babies yet
but there was timed
for us
always time
we were young
not knowing how our lives
would change
three babies later
we knew
and there was no more time
For us, so
we laughed
we talked
we watched our babies grow
becoming teenagers we didn’t know
and grow
into their own lives
with babies
and no more time
and changes
and laughter
and talking
and life
