We Were

These candles and globes,
illuminate your face.
The stars and moon,
hide your scars.
Your eyes pierce the night,
your soul pierces the heavens.
If I had one more night,
to make you fall in love with me, I gurantee you darling,
you'd hate me 'til the end.
Your face frozen in time,
cannot leave my thoughts.
As you lay next to me,
I listen to your shallow breath.
As you whisper my name in your sleep,
I die a little more.
I can never let you know,
how much you mean to me.
I can never let you go,
darling what could we be?
If I ever told you,
that I loved you,
what could you say,
what would you say?
I could never tell you the truth,
I could never forget the way we were...
