We Used To Be Friends
We used to be friends
but we had a falling out.
We got back together
and had a great time.
For two years,
got married.
Got along another year.
Messy split.
Divorce.
Anger on both sides
Saw each other at funerals.
Did not speak.
Twenty years later found each other again
at a family wedding
Too much liquor
Too much information
Too much laughter.
We both got scolded when we got home
by our angry spouses, neither
understanding
That we used to be friends.
