We Sang Sticks and Stones Could Hurt Someone

We sang sticks and stones could hurt someone
And words could never hurt us
But from his words we’ve come undone
We never thought he’d hurt us

You gotta go and don’t be back
You can’t take one more hack
He’ll be rolling off your back
Clear on out and be on track

How many chances does he get
How many bombs does he set
He’s already lost your respect
Just leave it be, it’s simple yes

We sang sticks and stones could hurt someone
And words could never hurt us
But from his words we’ve come undone
We never thought he’d hurt us

Walk away and leave it behind
All those times he’s been unkind
Girl there are no victimless crimes
Even with no mark to find

Happy is not in his dark place
Girl just go and find your space
Your life it can’t be replaced
You’re a treasure to be praised

We sang sticks and stones could hurt someone
And words could never hurt us
But from his words we’ve come undone
We never thought he’d hurt us

You’re so much better on your own
Don’t need a man now girl you’re grown
Let those ashes burn his thrown
Don’t look back you’re almost gone
Come on girl and take my hand
Together now we’re leaving him
Don’t look back you’re almost gone
Don’t look back you’re almost home
