We Said Goodbye Today

It’s the end of the beginning
Nothing left to say
Just a memory of the way
We use to live

And I don’t remember
What you ever saw in me
Maybe someone
I was pretending to be

And the dream went on
Till we were both lost, never free
And the days past slowly
And time was not our friend
I hope to see you in the end

We said goodbye today
Never to meet again my friend
On this chosen path
Of death and innocence I begin

And the dreams pass in the night
Of what could have been
They only leave me lonely
Cold and in between
The clouds of what could have been

Another frame has passed this camera
Frozen in time
An image of a love
That was yours but not mine
Left in trust.

A poignant conversation to have with a lost love. "An image of love that was yours but not mine" really says it all for a last goodbye.
