We Pledge Ever Fairer Matrimonial Bargains
Achievements not mine
Grace to my rescue
To ensure fortitude doesn’t decline
But continues in every circumstance to give Christine and I the clue
To promote humility first and foremost
If we’re to get far
Performing better, our abilities to shine the most
In our heart, in our mind, in our car
Reflecting upon measures we’d taken
In tiny issues, in temperance issues
Appreciating past wrongs were forgotten
Dumped into history dustbins like dead tissues
If we hope to turn a new page
Praising small reconciliation steps
Undertaken to boost and bolster our marriage
Coercing our minds to veer away from potential missteps
Likely to injure each other’s sensitivity
When clumsiness rocks our marriage boat
Shambling on domains bereft of the creativity
Essential to dwelling not upon which crimson coat
John dons or which moccasin shoes
Christine’s feet sneak in
When in the background lurk blues
To kick her clean tin hoping to win
An argument on how great hubby
Looms on the home platform
When Two Pine grounds grow shrubby
To define a quaint landscape in our home
Turf as we surf
The forty first decade to consolidate humble gains
God planted in our turf
As we pledge to each other ever fairer matrimonial bargains.
