WE MEET ON THE STAIRS we met we married life spent what’s the story the story is ours from beginning to end not taken for granted i see how that ends we embrace the highs and lows whether new skin or waterlogged we enjoy time together it is a blast to reminisce to taste test to kiss blissfully fully enjoy each other’s company we are a girl…a boy often apart in the same house he’s in his “cave” i’m on top of the world a house divided cannot stand thus we meet often on the stairs staring into his mountain-high eyes he, enjoying the curves bitterness unforgiveness not on the table we do not drive ourselves to madness, disable our union was it easy to withstand… were there broken pieces… let me tell you!!! pickup those pieces see what beauty shines through ahhhh… no Klimt kiss can come close to reflection of a marriage in all its glory beasts try to rip it apart the merry keeps going ‘round and ‘round one more round of tears in the end hand in hand heart to heart we withstand the storm standing strong remembering we are an imperfect union perfectly paired so in love putting God first as he’s joined us together… let no man tear us asunder 4/19/2023 Today is 43 years

so true. Marriage takes lots of work, but won't work well if it's one sided!

Marriage is not easy, both partners have to work at it with God's help through the Holy Spirit, the marriage will survive. I enjoyed reading your work. Love is the key to it all. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

Love the minimalist declarations of both love and strife that you weave throughout your poem, Kim! Like a merry go round ride..and I relate to all of it with regards to my marriage, as well! Such a creative and excellent write! :)

A lovely love story Kim, love is all about give and take, being gracious and kind and meeting on the stairs with stars in your eyes. Congratulations on 43 years of married bliss… Belle

I remember married life. Too much drama for me. Still, a good read this morning, Kim. marriage is just like everything else. You get out of it, what you put in to it:)

Thank you, Daniel! My Dad puts all the wrongs on himself. He says “Your mom was always right.” He loved her so. I think it is not in right and wrong but just loving each other through our imperfections. As God does with us. God bless you!
