We Know Not When

WE KNOW NOT WHEN A branch I fell, was many times past, From my home, mother tree, Alas, I know not, when this time began, Floating down the creek, Around the bend, Twirling in the water, Not knowing when, It will begin, Or if it will ever end, long floating journey, what is the point, am I leaving or coming, is there an end, Washed ashore, A time or two, then a Raining day, pushed back in, I know not when, I see above majestic trees, Filled with spring, Filled with leaves, But, I can’t remember when, I would reach up if I could, But my time is gone, I will never sing a song, Floating, pieces of wood, Her gentle hands drew me out, And tucked me in, Oh what, a new life begins! Yes, with sprouts all about, then gentle hands put my soul, By the creek, more I would never seek, But I knew not when, Born again a tree my own, Branches and leaves, No falling please, Sun fills me, life, I’m home! Then I see a branch floating down, With deep despair, all surround, Twirling about, she knows not when, If I could I would pull her in, heavy dew pours down my leaves, My heart knows then, We never know, We never know when.
