We Have Always Lived In a Snow Globe

we have always lived in a snow globe
under the little glass dome
with all our misfortunes and all our hopes
in a perfect windowsill home
but then you suddenly turned black and white
just like a Man Ray’s picture
and that kind of gave me a fright
when you tried to step out of that picture
but it all makes sense now, my sweet
in our snowy town of fools
that you keep haunting me in my sleep
and I can’t escape and it’s still
tearfully beautiful
