We Followed Love

We followed love Who said it was our fate To fall uncertain heights But love is a tricky customer Who turns and changes course With little warning The passions of a steamy night May vanish by the morning We followed love relentless Tuned and twisted At his lead Sure our love would blossom We watered night and day the seed But love is a distasteful master Who hides and seeks And changes course with little warning The magic of a starry night Can quickly cloud by morning We followed love But lagging Other straighter paths appeared With love no longer in our sights Down different roads We steered But still in every corner I seek some love to find I thought it had ran out on me Now realize it was left behind We followed love But in our haste Our hearts and dreams Were well misplaced We followed love Who ducked and dived And changed course with little warning And all the kisses and the heat Were dust And cold by morning.
