We Drink Our Silver
Monetary values,
Cultural commonwealth,
The deviant's avenue,
A haven for sore bones and poor health,
Chiseled tongues,
Limp limbs,
Brandished to persecute and shun,
The light emanating from within,
Our communal corner,
Tucked away in the dark,
Home to him and her,
A Gothic contrast polarizingly stark,
Subtle whispers,
Communication through quivering lips,
Seeking refuge in the Little Dipper,
Our sanctioned piece of the sky upon where hope drips,
Its silver love into desperate mouths,
Under the searing sun,
The people cry out for release,
Committing themselves to the solace of arson,
Broken, destitute, their skin racked with disease,
We find our shelter,
In the confines of heaven.
