We Carry Our Sky With Us
Listen to poem:
We Carry Our Sky With Us
David J Walker
We carry our sky
with us
As we fly
Through uncharted space
And the dust of our departed
Accompanies us
Asking only that we
Write down their names
And present them at the end
of the race
Through the unmeasured
Length of eternity
Are we there yet?
I asked with the certainty
that I carry with me
The breath of God
Furtively holding it in
Knowing that someday
It is to be returned
We Carry our sky with us
Uncertain of life
Without gravity
