We Can'T Save Everybody

Of course this truly did happen, and it tickled the teacher and I both so much, that we held on to each other laughing until we were both crying with joy.
The first grader was giving us the best story ever, standing in front of the class, yelling
It out proudly, and showing us the picture he had drawn.
“And there would be a big flood, and a fire, and army guys, and bombs everywhere, and everybody would die!” He yelled out gleefully.
“What about me?” I asked. “Would I die?”
“No, I’d save you, Mrs. K,” he told me.
“What about me?” his classmates began screaming.
“I’d save you!” he told them, cheerfully.
“What about me?” the classroom teacher asked.
“Mrs. Smith,” he said sternly, “We can’t save EVERYBODY!”
