We Become Our Mom's

As I grew I knew the day would come
When I might be just like my Mum.

I say the things she use to say
and even now she gets her way.

I sent the children off to school
with famous quotes from you know who!

Like "If Billy jumped would you jump to?"
or "Always carry change with you".

"Be kind to others and treat them right
and never ever start a fight".

I find myself repeating still
the things Mum taught us drill by drill.

And now my children are all grown
and having children of their own.

I heard my daughter the other day
say "Remember children before you play
be kind to others and treat them right".

I guess my Mum's not out of sight
So life goes on I guess it's true
We always keep the best of you...

I very much enjoyed this read and you are right. Generation after generation learns the lessons passed down from generation to generation. I bet you would like the poem I wrote called Mama's Eyes. TLee

Mums do leave lovely impressions on their children, whilst some leave the opposite. I can tell by your words your mother left the better >> James
