We Are The One
We all are the One
We breathe in the universe,
breath after breath, Oxygen gifted from life and from death.
Plants turning sunlight,
to air we can keep,
guarding our bodies while our minds are asleep.
We drink ancient hydrogen, born in the flame
of the first new born seconds
before stars had a name.
We swallow the cosmos with every small sip,
The universe entering through tongue,
throat, and lip.
For everything living is part of the One
Every atom, each heartbeat, each drop, every sun.
The universe shaped us with purpose and care,
yet we hoard what it gives and pretend it’s not there.
It crafted the DNA spirals of green,
Designed every plant, every forest unseen.
It built us an atmosphere gentle and wide,
A shield made of magnet and fire at our side.
Jupiter guards us from stones in the night,
he heliosphere pushes back cosmic bite.
Earth’s perfect distance keeps warmth in our skin,
A cradle of balance we’re sheltered within.
And once, long ago, the One formed a plan:
To enter creation and walk here as man.
A body conceived so the universe could
Feel, hunger and laughter and sorrow and good.
He came here to teach us to care and to give,
to show us the way that all life ought to live.
But we feared what he taught and we silenced his breath,
then fought over his name and delivered more death.
Yet still, through the chaos,
the universe stays in the water we drink and the light in our days.
In the breath of a child, in the warmth of the sun,
In the atoms that whisper: We all are the One.
