We All Fear Something
We all fear something.
Mine is fear of self.
Running, hiding, whirling, twirling,
In the bed, under the bed, out of bed,
Never getting away.
She follows me, laughing.
Mocking me.
Voices from two different directions.
Taunt me.
Tease me.
Kick me.
Please me.
We all have something.
Labels.
Laughter.
Hear mine.
More laughter.
No one knows it is mine.
Do I tell?
What good would it do?
Would it change their opinion?
Not in the least.
People do not change.
Like their people labels.
It keeps them safe.
Normalizes them.
What about me?
Self screams.
She kicks me in the head.
I resign myself.
We all have something we fear.
