Ways of War

By Laura

The battle's in our bleeding hearts
They tell us what to do
The lies rip us apart
The truth that's never true

I know you want to sleep
Honestly, so do I
In every monster that we keep
Are endless ways we seem to die

One day our crimson hearts will fade to grey
And we will find the in-between
Maybe we'll find the love today
To live through all the pain we've seen

It's colder now than ever before
A winter comes this summer night
In shivering, we ask for more
Our broken bodies set to fight

We send a light from distant shores
Our tortured souls with more in store
This darkness, brighter than before
To end our life-long ways of war

Its just a thought, a fleeting hope
That we will see tomorrow's end
No promises, through scars we cope
Just an honest smile; a scene of you and me, my friend
