Violence is neither the way nor the means to an end In a Democratic Republic. However, non violent protest Is a protected right under the constitution of the United States, and the cause need not be righteous to be deserving of protected rights status. Any cause, righteous or otherwise. must be protected not because it is popular but because it is Simply a right under the constitution as per the Supreme Court Interpretation. A Republican was once heard indicating that he would never vote For a particular presidential candidate who was a democrate, but He would go to war to protect his right to run for president.
