Way Too Close To Home

Im sitting here in disbelief
Of the news I heard today
Try'n to come to grips with the signs I missed
That are now here on display

I can't imagine all the loneliness
You must have felt here in the end
Now you're free from all lifes sorrows
I hope you fly again my friend

This is all hitting way too close to home
Maybe things would've turned out differently
If only I had known

It's a shame to say that yesterday
We could've talked over a beer
Now the thought of ever helping you
Lies in the rear view mirror

I hear you reached out for help but it never came
And while the world keeps on turning
The sun still shines the same

Everyone lives with the feeling
We all share in the blame
But now we're sending flowers
And sharing in the pain

This is all hitting way too close to home
Maybe things could've turned out differently
If only I had known

It's a shame to say that yesterday
We could've talked over a beer
Now the thought of ever helping you
Lies in the rear view mirror

Reality wakes us up from dreaming
In the times when we least expect the call
I know I'm gonna miss you my brother
I only wish you hadn't had to fall

This is all hitting way too close to home
