Way To the Cross

Tradition can be unfair
parenthood can be brutal
I want to live my life
to decide issues myself
but things encroached on me

Parents have a duplicate man
They tell me that is my choice
a choice to father my children

That night I carried myself
pretending to wed a man
of their choice pasted on me
not the one of my heart
it was the way to the cross

On my back was a heavy cross
wooden cross to crucify my life
my interests and my ambitions
for the rest of life on this planet

That time the sun set on me
glow worms, moon took over
to light my life with dimness
