Forgiveness is a welcomed thing when
you can't live without it
I drift off in memory
To Carmel-by-the-Sea
We drove up to Monterey
Where you gave your heart to me
Then walked out into the ocean
Caught up in the salty breeze
As we loved each other
I felt the waves wash over me
Every reason I should stay
But I chose the interstate
Now everywhere I look
Is where I see your face
The bright lights of Las Vegas
Are as blue as they can be
Even out here in the desert
I feel the waves wash over me
If you ask me why I told you goodby
Now I know.......
I was searching to find what I was leaving behind
Down the road....
The flood of emotions that began in that ocean
Is still running deep
The more I know I need you
Each time the waves wash over me
So glad you answered girl
So good to hear your voice
I'm sorry, sounds so lame
But it's so much more than noise
If you can grant forgiveness
And hang with me on the phone
I'll be California surfing
The waves are washing me back home
If you ask me why I told you goodby
Now I know......
I was searching to find what I was leaving behind
Down the road......
The flood of emotions that began in that ocean
Is still running deep
The more I know I need you
Each time the waves wash over me
