Wavering On the Edge

An ocean of limitless yearnings and ceaseless possibilities
the haunting cry of heartbreak and wretchedness suddenly takes flight
an improbable fantasy yet oh so tantalizing in its unexpected streaks of light
a fascinating combination of wildness and sweetness held in sudden surprise

Unveiled and vulnerable this unwavering madness holds us in awe
weighted with significance infuriating in its inexpressible doubts
yet confident the secrets will remain untouchable in its shifting new life
defying the rules of escape it breaks free unadorned in raw virtuosity

An intriguing secret passage one hopes to follow and yet backs away
wanting the unraveling of the mysteries to leave the realizations of truth
missing and not accepting when reaching to hold what cannot be possessed
strong and unfettered our heart’s desire slips away to the uncaring sea

Time passes as long moments charged with misunderstandings fade
solemn as contemplation of the value paid was worthy of this delay
throwing off all restraint and kneeling by the water’s edge
the reflection of sunlight on the waves dances to a tune not yet played.

Hello Donna, Yes -- for sure, I really like the flow and tenor of your Quatrain here, and the distinct message it leaves the reader in the final stanza. Yes, the ". . . waves dances to a tune not yet played." And, "Time," and its passage are those ever-present variables that help to shape what we consider and what we do in situations when we're "wavering on the edge." A Superb Write Donna !! A "Thinking Person's Poem." Enjoyed this one immensely!! Cheers and Best, Gary (P.S. More Poems Please!)
