Talakaveri springs 
from Brahmagiri hills 
Kodagu mist blessing 
Karnataka's cupped hands

delta farmers wait in 
Thanjavur heat 
Supreme Court verdicts 
cannot fill empty wells

monsoon politics
    flow through Mettur dam
        Tamil voices rising

with Bangalore's thirst
Cauvery flows past 
Srirangapatna temples through 
Mysuru palaces 
carrying prayers downstream

Trichy grandmother 
watches paddy wither 
while tech parks upstream 
drink tomorrow's harvest

fishermen in Poompuhar
    taste salt and sorrow

where river meets sea
ancient delta dreams
where does border end 
basin begin 
this endless 
negotiation...
